10 computer mistakes that makes you look like a newbie

If you still make these mistakes with your computer, then you're still a NEWBIE.

1. NOT BACKING UP FILES
Seriously with the availability of different kind of storage media ( including the CLOUD), I think you shouldn't have an excuse not to back up your data!
Newbies realise this after loosing their precious pictures and videos- Not forgetting -they sulk up to me for data recovery (and yes I billed them-its not free)

2. NOT TURNING OFF THE COMPUTER PROPERLY
One of the things you should learn to do is shutting down your computer properly. It will surprise you that turning off your computer properly tends to fix certain problems (e.g the time it takes your computer to boot up)
Newbies didn't know this so they thought their laptops were like TV sets (just turn the knob and its off).

3. STICKING WITH OUTDATED SOFTWARE AND OPERATING SYSTEM
Updated softwares and operating systems contain bug fixes and strengthened security! Why stick with the outdated ones?

4. CLICKING NEXT/OK WITHOUT READING
OK we are not talking about those long and really long blocks of agreement text . We are talking of the short promptings that pop up on your screen while downloading an app or program-do you ever read them before clicking? Please do because you might just be "ok-ing" something you never intended.

5. NOT SAVING WHILE WORKING
Thanks to the auto-saving abilities of modern devices Some newbies would cry because they'd loose their data after power outages or disconnection from the internet. Don't cry next time-now you know.

6. DOWNLOADING AND INSTALLING BAD SOFTWARE
So you're now on a site where you want to download your favourite video and they're asking you to install a download manager so you can get the video-Newbies did this and got their systems messed up.
Never allow auto-download except you know what you're downloading-Newbies didn't listen and they got spyware in to their system.

7. NOT USING A SURGE PROTECTOR OR UPS
I guess you now know the reason why that loyal charger refused to work. Well, next time use a surge protector to protect your system from power surges.

8. OPENING E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS FROM UNKNOWN SOURCES
Never do this! Spyware, malware(viruses, trojan etc) await you when you do-Good luck.

9.FALLING FOR PHISHING AND SPAM
So the e-mail appears to be real and genuine-verify before clicking on them. Spam? well again the same rule applies. Identity theft doesn't sound nice, does it?

10. USING INCOMPATIBLE SOFTWARE/HARDWARE AND PERIPHERALS
Before purchasing hardware/software or upgrading older
hardware/software, make sure its compatible with your
computer, operating system , and meets the
system requirements.

If you felt like a newbie after reading this then its time for a change
