SWITCHING WINDOWS
ALT+F4 closes a
currently running program
WIN KEY+D will minimize
all windows, CTRL+W closes current
window while WIN + PAUSE/BREAK shows
system information( Note-some systems do not have the pause break key)
ALT+PRINT copies
the current action to the clip board – takes screen shots.
CTRL+Z let you
undo an action. This is not only useful in word but you can also bring a file
back to its place if you accidentally deleted or moved it.
CTRL+SHIFT+T reopens
a tab in chrome and Firefox.
MULTIPLE DISPLAYS
If your computer is connected to more than one screen(monitor):
WIN KEY+ ARROW keys causes display
to jump to each side of the monitor WHILE SHIFT+WIN
KEY+ARROW keys makes it snap to the
other screen. WIN +P lets you set up
another display
SAVE TIME WHILE BROWSING THE WEB
CTRL + ENTER automatically
adds www. And .com to a URL.
CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER gives .net
CTRL+L or F6 or ALT+D: lets you jump to the address bar
CTRL+SHIFT+T: reopens
a closed tab
CTRL+SHIFT+N: private
browsing in chrome
CTRL+SHIFT+P: private
browsing in fire fox and internet explorer
CTRL +T: lets you
move from one tab to another
CTRL+ NUMBER (1, 2, 3,
4…): lets you move to a specific tab, for instance, CTRL +3 takes you to
the third tab.
FILE MANAGEMENT
Pressing F2
renames a selected file
To rename files and arrange them sequentially, select all
files then right click on the first file then press F2. This will change all
the other files with the same name but with suffixes (1), (2), (3)…
SHIFT+DOWN ARROW:
Select a single file
SHIFT +PAGE DOWN: select a large group of files at once
…And finally a bit on
typing tricks…
So these short cuts will come in handy while you are typing
CTRL+ BACKSPACE: deletes
entire word behind the cursor making you delete text a bit quicker.
CTRL+ LEFT ARROW KEY
moves cursor to the beginning of the word.
CTRL+RIGHT ARROW KEY
moves cursor to the beginning of the next word.
CTRL+ SHIFT+ = gives
superscripts (think exponents).
CTRL+ = gives
subscripts.
One article cannot give you all
the key board short cuts but we do hope you try these and make the use of your
